Who we are
We are Ken and Helen, a married couple with a keen interest in healthy living, fermented food and probiotic bacteria. We have prepared fermented foods of many kinds through the years. We are big fans of raw food, vegetable juicing, intermittent fasting and high-intensity training (HIIT).
We have both had a painful struggle with gut issues and autoimmune disorders. And like many others, we have gone through periods of trial and error to find what works best. What we have found is that food choices and diet play a much bigger role than we imagined. Fermented food and probiotics have proven a cornerstone in any good strategy to stay healthy. The essential role of microorganisms and probiotics cannot be overemphasised.
What we do
We present information on the benefits of consuming probiotics. This includes recipes and step-by-step guides on how to prepare fermented vegetables, sauerkraut, yoghurt, kefir, sourdough bread, and many other fermented foods.
We also write honest reviews about probiotic supplements, culture starters and other products related to gut health. The aim is to enlighten and equip the reader with honest information on how to harness the power of beneficial bacteria. If we recommend a certain supplement on our site, then we truly believe it is of high quality and beneficial. But since each individual has unique needs, you might need to experiment a little to find what suits you best.
Why we do it
We believe in a natural, balanced, personal and enlightened lifestyle. Homemade fermented food is very creative, personal, delicious and tremendously beneficial. Fermenting vegetables and milk products is an ancient, traditional way of cooking. It is the complete opposite to genetically modified, processed, sugar and chemical-loaded products offered by the food industry.
